Acapulco has 20 km of beaches, from Barra Vieja to Pie de la Cuesta, which are divided between the three major tourist areas: Acapulco Tradicional, Acapulco Dorado and Acapulco Diamante. Acapulco is one of Mexico's most important tourist destinations, since it was Mexico's first international tourist port. Today Acapulco is the most visited port in Guerrero and one of the most visited by national and international tourists in Mexico.
The city, like many other places in Mexico, has several beaches whose names correspond to historical facts, customs or simply natural circumstances. Currently some of the most internationally known beaches are Caleta and Caletilla, which are among the busiest in the port, as well as Playa La Condesa, Playa Hornos and Playa Manzanillo.
